Living out of a suitcase and faced with the predicament of dressing “African” last Saturday, I encountered a familiar dilemma: should I dress like my twin sister in anything but African pieces OR find a way, anyway to incorporate Nigerian regalia into my outfit? Well, I opted for the latter. Last year, she and I had deliberately mixed African and Western pieces together (see post HERE). This year was no different for me (she chose to go Western) as I struggled hopelessly to tie the ashoke (Nigerian headwrap), bouncing impatiently from one Youtube video to another watching tutorials on how to tie this large piece of thick fabric. The final result was a Cultural Tango between two different cultures: a union of Western fur, lace, and quilted material with Nigerian ashoke. As always, thank you so much for stopping by and don’t forget to enter the two giveaways currently on my blog HERE and kindly subscribe to my Newsletter and Youtube channel.
