DAY 3 AT CAMELOT MATELOT, TRINIDAD

We made a quick dash to the nursery school where we met many adorable children then off to the construction site. We started working on the children play area clearing brushes and dead leaves from the floor. Trenches for the path to the camp fire site were dug out by the muscles in our group. Then we filled it up with rocks. The first phase of the transportation shelter was started uphill. It was really exhausting, but I felt gratified after seeing our progress. Work was followed by a short relaxation by the shore then a river bath. Then came dinner โ€“ pilau, coleslaw, fried chicken and freshly made juice.

This adorable little girl without saying a word, slowly turned and posed somewhat like she anticipated being photographed!

Walking up and down the hilly street surely gets one’s glutei muscles toned. A break was appreciated!

Leaving in the woods as a hunter doesn’t afford you the luxury of being clean cut. A bad-ass dreads.

Although I was brave enough to hold this toad, I was scared it was going to jump on me. All work and no play…..(obviously!)

At night, we went to see the famous Leatherback turtle nesting site in Grand Riviere. It was really dark and we couldnโ€™t use the flash on our cameras because it would distract the turtle. So, the only light we had was the red light from the guideโ€™s pen light, hence the reason why the turtle looks red.
