And today is [National] Goof-Off Day! I swear there is a day for everything under the sun. So this means you can do anything you want or… nothing at all. I swear my colleagues think I’m high [on life] half the time and I’ll like to keep it that way 🙂 On this beautiful spring morning in winter wonderland, I’m excited to share another amazing designer with you.
Jenni is the creative designer and owner of SosoMe. Her brand features contemporary premium and original African print styles. I first discovered SosoMe on Etsy because of the unique way she combined prints in creating breathtaking African print styles.
You might think that African print is just African print. But you’d be wrong. Jenni is Ghanian and I’m Nigerian and there are some major and minor differences in the prints and patterns that we use. And these differences makes our styles even more exotic to others. It was this uniqueness that made me fall in love with SosoMe pieces.
For example, Jenni uses kente prints to bring her designs to life. And Kente prints are the go-to prints around Ghana. And you see me wear mostly ankara prints, which are the go-to prints in Nigeria. Take a gander at SosoMe and my 20+ Days of African Print Fashion to see what I’m talking about 🙂
However, I’m wearing a SosoMe African print wrap top made with ankara print. In my over 25 years of wearing African print, I’ve not seen another designer that shares this extraordinary perspective that Jenni has. If you’re looking for elaborate styles, Jenni is your girl! A round of applause to yet another woman pursuing her passion.
Although spring is here and winter has a tight grip on us, I’ve got my eyes set on summer. This African print wrap top is a great piece that transitions well from from spring to summer. You can layer the wrap top with a long-sleeve shirt (similar) for extra warmth. Once summer rolls around, wear the top without the extra layer. That’s already two outfits from one piece.
I played off the colors of the SosoMe African print wrap top when I chose this wine-colored faux suede pants (similar). I also applied the same concept when I picked out my olive bow pumps (similar) and statement earrings from Amrita Singh. See how easy it is to rock African print styles? If you have this wrap top on your mind, now’s a good time to get your hands on it. You’ll thank me later 😉
I am wearing:
3/4-sleeve top (similar)
Olive bow pumps (similar)
Faux suede fitted pants (similar)
Nokia activity and sleep watch (exact)
