Oh happy weekend, friends! I’m sharing another outfit from day 20 of the African print outfit series. This time, I’m wearing a casual, chic ankara two-way top from Gitas Portal.
Shop The Look
In my early days of discovering that Etsy was a hot spot for genuine, handmade African print styles, I came across the ankara Rebekah dress by Gitas Portal. I was obsessed with the fashionable print and design.
I found many gorgeous styles from this designer that I immediately hit the favorite button. And for this series, I get to show you a versatile ankara two-way top from Gitas Portal. I am definitely impressed with the quality of the fabric and the functionality of the top.
In these photos, I wore the top one way. I was running out of time during the shoot. Click here to check out the second way the model styled this summer top. The green colors evoke the feeling of life, growth and summer too.
Speaking of summer, today I finally saw the first signs of spring! The trees are beginning to sprout fresh leaves and the fields are quickly turning for brown to light green. Temperatures are climbing up which has me excited to wear summer pieces.
I tried wearing shorts today but a made a u-turn from the car to my room after the first few bursts of spring air hit my legs. It was 58ºF! I guess this African babe needs more heat to show off some legs haha.
I thought it would be fun to show a playful, albeit preppy, way to wear African print. I can usually tolerate a degree of cold while shooting but on this day, I felt quite cold. We had overcast and a slight wind. I wanted to be done with the shoot asap. Thankfully, it warmed up by outfit #3.
My big sister got me into Converse a few years ago. I’ve since worn them any time I get the chance. At work, I get to wear my Converse sneakers on denim Fridays. I got so many compliments the last time I wore the sneakers with an African print bomber jacket (thanks boo for scrubbing ’em!).
I liked the combination of the ankara two-way top with a folded pair of denim and Converse sneakers. The effortless outfit would be a comfortable outfit to be spotted in this summer.
Established in 2011, Gitas Portal is a London-based fashion brand known for its clever use of African wax prints pieces. These one-of-a-kind styles transition well from day to night and embody confidence and sophistication.
If you’re looking for a variety of African print styles as unique as this ankara two-way top, you will love Gitas Portal. I am currently crushing on this high-low dress, this fitted ankara playsuit, and this wax print peplum top. What do you think?
