5 Great Ways to be a Productive Fashion Blogger | Louisa Moje shares 5 awesome tips to help you you blog efficiently so you can blog smarter not harder.

I must admit, the decision to go back to college for a Master’s degree was not an easy one. After 6 years in college getting my Pharmacy degree, I am quite familiar with how strenuous college life could be. Now add that on top of a job and running this blog and you’ll agree with me that it can get overwhelming, quickly. In this post, I’ll be sharing 5 strategies I use to become productive fashion blogger and to stay organized with school, and work.

Running a successful blog today is both a blessing and a curse. We are blessed with a plethora of gadgets that can help us get our work done in very little time. At the same time, these technological advances can also be a distraction. The need to be 100% present in every aspect of our life is a constant but unrealistic goal for many of us. Here are the 5 strategies that have helped me become a productive fashion blogger.

HOW TO BE A PRODUCTIVE FASHION BLOGGER

 1. BULK SCHEDULE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

For the longest time, I would do tasks one at a time and it’s no wonder I took frequent hiatus from the blog. As a fashion blogger, it is of utmost important to be consistent. In fact, consistency is key if you want to run a successful fashion blog. Your audience get accustomed to reading frequent posts from you and may get antsy if you do not stick with your schedule.

To help me stay productive and efficient, I bulk schedule as much as I possibly can. I batch schedule my social media posts and blog posts in advance. I use Buffer for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. For Pinterest, my favorite social media, I use both Tailwind and BoardBooster. I even shoot several outfits at the same time to maximize my time and the photographer’s time.

This simple strategy has helped me become a more productive fashion blogger and increased my blog’s reach while maintaining my sanity in my course work and job.

2. CREATE A TO-DO LIST

I don’t know about you but my life would be a mess without a schedule. I could be a good procrastinator if given the opportunity. The only way I stay on-track and get things done is by creating a daily to-do list. This strategy worked like a charm through pharmacy school and I’ve since applied it to my blog, work, and life. And I love the euphoric feeling of checking things off.

As this blog grows, I find that I need to keep tighter control of my daily activities. I find myself juggling between my blog planner, work calendar, and course deadlines. To find a sweet spot between all of these areas, I’ve been playing with a fancy little gadget. The Wacom Bamboo Folio Smartpad is a nifty product that helps me keep track of all of these areas.

Combined with the Bamboo duo stylus, I use it to create my daily to-do list for both my blog and work. I also use it to take notes in class that I can digitalize and export at the end of the day. If I think of a cool idea during lecture, I jot it down and keep going. If I need access to the information on the go, I can access it on my phone or tablet. I no longer worry about having an anxiety attack because I do not have my planner on me.

With the holiday around the corner, the Wacom Bamboo Folio Smartpad  and Bamboo duo stylus would make a great gift for the techies and non-techies in your life.

3. CREATE A CONTENT CALENDAR

Every month, I create a content calendar to visually define the tasks I plan on achieving that month. A content calendar is a tool that literally all marketing team use to plan the content for their marketing activity. As someone who strives to be a productive fashion blogger that prides herself in getting things done, a content calendar helps me layout everything in a calendar format.

I use the calendar to figure out the schedule of the different types of blog posts and social media posts for the month. I also add major events like midterms and finals, planned trips, and appointments that could affect my schedule. With this technique, I know how much time I have and I know not commit myself to any additional activity that I cannot do. The content calendar helps me strategically align my plan with my goals.

4. USE YOUR TIME WISELY

Have you been guilty of spending 15 minutes watching cute baby videos when you promised yourself you were only going to be on social media for one solid minute? I know me too! Just yesterday, I caught myself watching a video of two super adorable twin girls struggling to explain why they were identical. The Pareto principle states that roughly 80% of the effects (or results) come from 20% of the causes (what you do).

So in essence, the other 80% of things you do only leads to 20% of your result. My monthly content calendar and daily to-do list on my Bamboo Folio Smartpad help me ensure that I do everything I possibly can so that the 80% in results I achieve aligns with my goals and aspirations.

5. TAKE A BREAK

It is ok to take a break if you need it. Do not feel guilty about it. One of the best creative strategies to come up with great blog ideas is by disconnecting yourself from your blog. Taking time off allows you to focus on other things, recharge, and come back with a bang. I seem to always have different blogging ideas and it can almost feel paralyzing thinking about all the things that need to be done to bring the ideas to reality.

I jot them them and refocus on my plan (from my content calendar) to help me stay on track. And when I get stressed out, I take a break from the blog even if it’s for a few hours or days. It’s ok, life happens!

These are the strategies that I have applied to help me be both a productive fashion blogger and maintain my life-work balance. I hope you found these tips helpful. Now, go do great things!
