I’ve worn bodycon dresses (like here and here) in several different ways and I feel more relaxed when it’s styled with a light coverup.
I don’t know about you, but I get tend to self-conscious wearing bodycon dresses without a layer. The pressure to have a flat/ripped midsection as a blogger or woman for that matter is real. This time, I let it go (literally and figuratively).
I like the unsuspecting side slit on this ribbed midi dress. You don’t see a lot of bodycon dresses with this simple touch.
And if you’ve worn maxi bodycon dresses, you’re probably all too familiar with how much they sometimes restrict your movement as you walk.
So having a side slit adds flavor and functionality back to this short-sleeved midi dress. I first noticed the difference when I wore this maxi bodycon with side slit a few months ago. The fabric is soft and of medium thickness as far as bodycon dresses.
And surprise, this midi dress is from Amazon!
You can get the same dress in either black or this brick red color in xx-small through x-large. Plus it ships free with Prime. You can try Prime free for 6-months here (requires a valid student email) or free for 30-days here (everyone else).
These days, it does not take a lot of digging to find great clothing on Amazon. This ribbed bodycon dress is no exception. The dress is not see-through, non-itchy, and has a subtle stretch to it.
If you’ve waited a while to try bodycon dresses, this ribbed bodycon dress with its sexy side slit and funnel neck is a great start. I scrunched up the sleeves slightly to make for a faux three-quarter style.
I had a croco-embossed handbag many years ago and loved the texture of the fabric. These croco-embossed ankle booties add a nice texture to my ensemble without being in your face.
You’ll never have to zip up your booties again because it has an elasticized panel. Quickly slip on these shoes any time you choose.
In full disclosure, I wouldn’t wear these boots as an everyday winter boot because that’s not what it’s made for.
And without tractions or rubberized soles, you will be one step away from falling and hurting yourself. Plus it doesn’t have a rubberized outsole to prevent you from falling. Anything for the photo right? Just keep that in mind.
Perfect shoes to wear for fall and spring or indoors during the winter months.
For a little touch, I went for this super lightweight leather earrings. These styles of earrings were hot this year because due to their weight and ease of styling.
I never in a million years thought I’d be part of the team #headwraps talk less team #natural hair gang, which is still a work in progress. But ever since I got into wearing headwraps this year, they have become a focal point of my outfits.
And African print wraps, in particular, are the icing on the cake. These scarves draw a lot of attention to my outfit and are often a great conversation starter. I wear them to work too and often get some curious stares haha.
Anyways, I think mixing African print with more contemporary pieces is a fun juxtaposition of modern influence. I tied my scarves a few different ways at #rsthecon, rewardStyle annual conference back in April. But my default style is this front bun.
Another question I often get asked is where I get my wraps. Etsy, Amazon, and Walmart! This exact wrap is from Amazon here. The exact print I’m wearing is sold out but there are more options available.
The same thing applies to my earrings, Amazon. They came as a gift with a set of beaded earrings I ordered. You can get several pairs of these lightweight earrings for less than $20.
I actually like the way this ribbed bodycon dress outfit turned out with a hint of African print. And I’m not disappointed with the pieces from Amazon either. Your turn! What’s your favorite way to style a bodycon dress?
