15 Things You Should Never Buy on Amazon

While many homes love Amazon, a few items are less than impressive when you shop off their site. Here are 15 things you should never buy on Amazon, from finding it cheaper in another store to the quality of the product, etc. I will share items that you might think twice before you buy.

You can use other home services like Chewy.com or even stop at your favorite warehouse club, like Sam’s or Costco, to get more bang for your buck. Depending on the brand, Amazon may not have the best price point.
Birkenstock Sandals
You will find that buying Birkenstocks on Amazon can often mean they are not genuine, as many Amazon shops pretend to be authentic. So be aware if you do order off the site.

Batteries
While we love saving money, sometimes buying cheap batteries is not the way to go. Cheap batteries can have a shorter lifespan and even damage the device they are used in. If you buy, reach for name-brand batteries to stay safe.
Smart Phones
If you plan to buy a smartphone, do not buy directly on Amazon. Most of the time, the prices are marked up, and you will find it cheaper shopping off of other sites like the manufacturer.
Cheap Phone Chargers
Another item to skip is cheap phone chargers that are not name-brand. These knockoffs risk wearing down your electronics; they are typically not surge-protected. If you shop online, reach for quality chargers.
Mattresses
While you can buy mattresses on their site, the return policy is much harder, as you are dealing with a large mattress that you will have to package and ship back. Plus, most shops only offer a two-week to 30-day trial.
Supplements
Watch out when buying from a third party, as many counterfeit medications and supplements are being sold. Pay attention to ensure your safety when taking what you are taking.

Gift Cards
Buying gift cards on Amazon can be a less rewarding option. You will find that you can shop at Kroger stores and get 4x fuel points when you purchase gift cards. You can also find other stores offering gift card deals, where you get extra perks like Kroger.
Designer Products
If you plan to buy higher-end designer items, you will want to ensure you are not buying from a third-party seller. If you buy from a third-party seller, you run the risk of the items not being authentic.
Larger Appliances
If you shop for larger appliances, watch out for buying from third-party vendors. The other thing to note is that if you run into issues, you will have to find an easy way to return it, which is almost impossible. Reach for big-box stores for easier delivery options. That way, you know exactly what you are buying.

As you know, many fake items are being sold. So be careful when buying from a third party, pay attention to expiration dates, and be aware that if you buy fake products, you may encounter harmful ingredients.
New Books
When you pay a new book price, know that a lot of third-party people say they are new and they are not new. Now, if you are okay with buying used, you will find that Amazon can offer great prices on used books.
Produce
You will find that when you are buying produce online, you run the risk of the quality being iffy. There have been statements that the quality of their fresh produce is hit-and-miss. Also, the pricing can sometimes be a bit more expensive than a local store.
Furniture
While you might find a great price on a couch or chair, you risk being unable to test it before buying. Then, you can run into an uncomfortable piece of furniture you are stuck with.
School Supplies
Here, you will run into the issue of higher prices than buying from a big-box store. Sometimes, you can find deals, but for the most part, there is price inflation to watch out for.
