L’OrĆ©al Elvive Full Restore 5 Shampoo Pack Sustainable Packaging

The L’OrĆ©al Elvive Full Restore 5 Shampoo Pack features a ā€˜100% recycled plastic bottle’ claim. The Changing Markets Foundation points out that the bottle’s cap is not recycled from waste materials.

Johnson & Johnson’s Asbestos Issue

The brand Johnson & Johnson is famous for a wide range of consumer goods and is especially known for their baby powder. However, during an investigation conducted by Reuters, it was found that their talc products had small amounts of asbestos, which was not disclosed, leading to the discontinuation of the talc-based baby powder.

They did not outright lie, but omission could also be taken as such.

Head & Shoulders’ Claiming Recyclability

While Head & Shoulders’ recyclability claims may be true to their bottles, just like L’Oreal, the Changing Markets Foundation also discovered that their bottle caps are not recyclable. Therefore, it runs counter to their recyclability claims.

Tarte Cosmetics Vegan Claims

Tarte is true to its word when it says they are cruelty-free but not 100% vegan. They do not test on animals, but some of their products contain animal-derived ingredients.

The brand’s La Pura skincare line was introduced as “natural” and “pure,” but was found to have synthetic ingredients, such as parabens and sulfate.
