The Mayan People – What’s Next?

December 21st, 2012 was so not the end of the world. Many of us were preoccupied with thoughts of the world ending on 12-21-12. There were so many reasons why people felt the world would end because of the end of the Mayan calendar. Quite honestly, I don’t quite remember what I was doing on that day, and I also didn’t believe that the world would end.
One lesson I learned happened on my trip to Mexico; Our tour guide gave us the gist about the Mayan calendar and he explained to us that the last day of the Mayan calendar marked the end of an era. In the same way A.D (After Christ) and B.C (Before Christ) represent a period in our calendar, the Mayan calendar used cycles of different length.
Nonetheless, the Mayan calendar may have ended but our world hasn’t. And for those of us heading back to school soon, a successful semester in advance!!!
