It may still be toasty hot in most parts of the US but, those of us in Alaska are beginning to feel fallโ€™s chilly weather. The sixty degrees weather has become our new normal.

And in a few short weeks, we will be thankful for any day we get above 50 degrees. But this is to be expected when you live in dry, interior Alaska.

I noticed that this post has gained some traction. So I decided to update the post about my Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturizer review.

In November 2017, I received a mystery Olay face moisturizer. At the time, it was in a clear jar with no brand name on it. As someone who loves to try new products, the thought of trying an anti-aging skincare product was exciting.

I even shared my excitement on Instagram. I shed insights on my experience using the product.

What is Olay Regenerist Whip Face Moisturizer?

According to the Olay website, the Olay Regenerist Moisturizer is:

  • A breakthrough moisturizer that delivers powerful skincare with a light as air finish
  • An anti-aging formula that reduces the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles without heaviness
  • Is made with Active Rush Technology that transforms from cream to liquid on the skin for instant absorption
  • The weightless formula leaves skin feeling soft & smooth with a matte finish
  • A formula that immediately leaves a breathable feel without compromising potency

So did the Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturizer live up to the claim? Read on for a detailed review about this Olay face moisturizer.

For reference, I have combination oily skin. For this reason, I gravitate towards products that donโ€™t make my skin oily and pair well with my makeup routine. My goal is to avoid looking like a shiny disco ball after a few hours of skincare/makeup application.

Iโ€™m always on the lookout for the next best thing (arenโ€™t we all?). So when the opportunity came for me to take Olay Whip for a spin, I jumped on it. Because of my combination-oily skin, I typically avoid moisturizing my face before applying makeup. But this product felt different.

Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturizer Ingredients

Some companies go the extra mile to hide the content/ingredients contained in their products.  Olay makes it easy for us to find the list of ingredients contained in the Whip Moisturizer. And even breaks some of the chemical names down for us!

Water, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer,  Gylcerin, Niacinamide *, Isohexadecane, Isopropyl Isostearate, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4**, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol***, Dimethicone, Stearyl Alcohol, Sodium Polyacrylate Starch, Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Behenyl Alchohol, Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Fruit Extract, Peg-100 Stearate, Dimethiconol, Cetearyl, Glucoside, Cetearyl Alchohol, Fragrance, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Disodium Edta.

*Vitamin B3, **Amino-Peptide, ***Pro-Vitamin B5

First Impression of Olay Regenerist Moisturizer

I whipped out a pea-size amount of the product and tested it on my hands. I noticed a soft fragrance that was enticing. In the photo below, I applied the cream to the back of my palm to give you an idea of how easy it went into my skin.

It felt like nothing Iโ€™ve ever used. Whip reminded me of the weightlessness of whipped cream. Olay Whip went from cream to liquid in a matter of seconds and absorbed into my skin in about a minute.

The finished appearance was matte, powdery and invisible. Exactly what I need from a moisturizer! My facial expression even shows my excitement!

In the photo below, I had just completed the first week of using Olay Regenerist Whip. I was excited that the product was adequately moisturizing without leaving a sticky feeling.

After a minute or two of letting it absorb, I could easily apply my makeup over the moisturizer without feeling like I had 10 coats of products on my face.

I raved so much about it that my twin sister, who is very picky about what she uses on her face, went behind my back and tried it. Well, I caught her! She ended up signing up for the pre-sale because she wanted a piece of Whip.

What I did not like about the Olay Face Moisturizer

This review would be incomplete without mentioning features I would have loved this product to have.

We are all well aware of the dangers of excessive sun exposure. Did you know that skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among young adults? Especially among women?

Although women of color have to smallest lifetime risk (1 in 1,000) of getting skin cancer, I choose not to be on the wrong side of this equation.

Sadly, the Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturizer is SPF free. To get the benefit of this product and sun protection, I always make sure to use a product containing SPF after applying the Whip Moisturizer. My tinted moisturizer and setting spray both contain SPF ๐Ÿ™‚

Thankfully, Olay now makes this facial moisturizer with SPF 25! I have not tried this particular formulation yet. But, I am pleased to know that this is an option for SPF lovers. And if you have dry skin, you might want to check out my Olay Total Effects Whip moisturizer review.

My Final Review of the Olay Regenerist Whip Moisturizer

I used the Olay Regenerist Moisturizer through the beginning of 2018. To be honest, I absolutely loved it. The only reason I stopped using Olay Whip was for the fact that I finished the entire jar. And I started working on another product review.

The way it feels on the skin has transformed the way I think about facial moisturizers. I was even sent a sample of a weightless body cream formulated like the Whip Moisturizer. My skin just loves it!

Previously, I only applied facial moisturizers in the morning on makeup-free days because of how thick the product is. And a serum at night because they are typically lightweight and oil-free.

With the Olay Regenerist Whip, I applied this pea-sized amount anytime I showered or washed my face. Not one day did I feel like the product was heavy or greasy on my skin. The Olay Regenerist Whip has transformed my thoughts and expectations of moisturizers.

Now, you can keep my face hydrated, smooth, matte and shine-free with one single product! How phenomenal is that? This moisturizer comes loaded with ingredients to keep the skin moisturized while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I also found out that this Olay facial moisturizer was listed as one of the best drugstore skin-care products in the 2017 People Beauty Awards. An award-winning product at a drugstore price that lives up to its claims? Go on, you know you want to try Olay Regenerist Whip!

Where to Buy Olay

This product is so good that Iโ€™ve seen reviews of people saying that fake versions are circulating on certain websites.

I suggest getting your jar from reliable retailers like Amazon or directly from the Olay website. I hear that P&G is good about verifying if you have an authentic product when you reach out to them.

  1. Hi Louisa,
My sincerest apologies!!! In my comment I replied to Maria somehow, I only realised now when I scrolled all the way down that I got your name wrong ๐Ÿ™ so so sorry!! I can’t seem to edit my comment to say “Hi Louisa”
I really appreciate your review and am so sorry I got your name wrong, if you are able to edit the comment, please do.
    Thank you, Mel

    1. Olay luminous whip cream is fine to use for most people. Definitely read the package insert to make sure there’s nothing that could prevent you from using the product.

  2. I love olay products. Always buy it from a reputable store however I noticed that flee market stalls are selling olay products half the normal price n wanted to request how do I tell fake olay products to original

    1. Hi Joshina, that’s a good question. The flee market option sounds too good to be true. That said, I’ve only ever bought Olay from reputable retailers/department stores. Hoping a reader can chime in for you. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Great review! I got the Olay Regenerist Whip a couple months ago and it’s really transformed my skin care routine! I absolutely love it and I can attest that it works, it’s super light and it smells awesome. I’m really glad they created an SPF formulation ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks for sharing!

  4. Hi. I am 29 years old. Can I use Olay regenerist whip cream? Or is it to be used by older age groups?

      1. Hi Louisa,
Thank you! I really appreciate your review. Your skin sounds very similar to mine so I am hoping to have the same sort of result!
I saw the Olay Whip creams advertised online while looking for an Olay eye cream. Unfortunately Olay isn’t a large brand over here in South Africa so even finding an eye cream can be difficult!!
I have sensitive skin and am starting to react to my previous eye creams. Unfortunately I have this problem so have a number of creams from relatively cheap to very expensive that I rotate but they are all making my skin itch at the moment. I have found that the Olay Complete Lightweight Day Lotion for normal / oily skin SPF 15 is generally quite good and my skin seems to be ok with it for over a year now (which is a miracle!), however my skin does still get very oily (even greasy) at times, esp in summer. I opted for Olay’s 7 in One Featherweight Moisturiser when I was in the shop as the reviews on it had been quite good. Unfortunately they did not have any of the Whip creams, otherwise I may have tried it as the adverts looked promising too.
They only had 2 Olay eye creams (and only 1 jar of each!) so I am trying out their Ultimate Eye Cream and holding thumbs! No itching after 3 days so it’s a good start.
After your review I am very keen to try Olay’s Whip cream which is luckily available from the shop’s online store.
Wishing you all the best, Mel

  5. I have tried this and I really really liked it. I’m a very dry girl though, and have found that the Olay overnight gel brightening mask with vitamin c is a much better fit. I was using the regenerist whips all through spring and summer though, but colder months cause my skin to need a bit extra.
