Last year, during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I ordered and subsequently returned a pair of Spanx leather leggings. There was so much hype about it that I decided to try it.
Long story short, it was way too tight, and I could not justify the price. I lived in Alaska then, and we have maybe four months of leggings-suitable weather.
Times have changed, and so have my style, so I gave Spanx leggings a second shot. I’m discussing what I think about these leggings in this review post, which is in partnership with Nordstrom (however, Nordstrom no longer sells the Spanx Leggings this year, so I’m linking it to Dillard’s).
I kid you not! These Spanx faux leather leggings are probably the most expensive pair of leggings I own. Granted, I have tried the Lululemon Align leggings and think it has an amazingly soft, buttery feel. And I finally caved and splurged on those.
So, spending $$$ on these Spanx Moto leggings was a bold step for me. Did Spanx nail it this time around? Find out below.
I’m going back to Alaska for work this winter. I’m excited and nervous, but mostly excited. Capitalizing on the last few days of fall before I face the arctic cold head-on, I decided to share this Spanx faux leather leggings outfit with you guys.
I love heels and all the flashy things. But I also love comfortable clothing that does not compromise my style, like these edgy Moto leggings. Let’s get right into the review!
SPANX Faux Leather Leggings Review
As with all things fashion, these Spanx Moto leggings caught my attention because it has so many rave reviews about them. And rightfully so!
If there is one thing we know about Spanx, the brand does not compromise on the quality of its shapewear. They extend that quality to their leggings with a contoured Power Waistband.
I wouldn’t say I liked the design of the first pair of Spanx leggings. I thought the style was a little too plain. I needed something with a little more oomph.
Enter Spanx Moto leggings!
The Moto design on these leggings spoke to me. It has the perfect amount of edge that gives off a biker-chic vibe without being over the top.
Spanx leggings come in several styles. The most popular and bestselling styles are:
- SPANX Faux Leather Leggings (available in Regular, Petite, Plus size)
- SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings (available in Regular, Petite, and Plus size) <- what I’m wearing
- SPANX Look at Me Now Seamless Leggings (available in Regular, and Plus size)
- SPANX Velvet Leggings (available from XS – 3X)
- SPANX Faux Suede Leggings (available from XS – 3X)
- SPANX Booty Boost Active High Waist 7/8 Leggings (available from XS – X-Large)
- SPANX Jean-ish Leggings (available from XS – 3X)
- SPANX Thinstinctsยฎ 2.0 Capri Leggings (available in Regular and Plus)
Side note: depending on your body type and the size you order, these mid-rise leggings might look like high-rise leggings on you.
For reference, I was 5โณ5 and roughly 135 lbs when the pictures were taken. I typically wear a size 4 (XS or S).
I am wearing a size small Regular, my usual size, in the SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings.
For this particular style, I recommend you get your standard size. This is unlike the plain SPANX Faux Leather Leggings, which run small.
PROS: SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings
- Stylish
- Amazing compression
- Soft and non-constricting
- Durable
- Stretchy
- Size inclusive
- Opaque (not see-through)
- Built-in tummy control & butt-lift
Compared to some other leggings, the SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings feel great on the skin.

As you would expect from SPANX, these fabulous compression leggings suck in your body in the right places.
This Moto legging is stretchy and quickly returns to form once you remove it.
I can already think of other fun ways to style these leggings. But for today’s look, I decided to go for a laid-back outfit that can be classified as an everyday practical style. Ain’t nobody trying to look frumpy!
CONS: SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings
- Price
- Rolls down
Although the leggings do not sag as you walk, I’ve noticed my SPANX rolling down if it is not pulled high enough.
As with all leggings, do not pull them up too tight on your crotch area to avoid a camel’s toe. (However, some of their leggings, like their faux leather leggings, have no center seams to prevent awkward bulging.)
And let’s not forget about the price. The leather leggings cost $98, and the Moto leggings cost $110.
Are SPANX Faux Leather Moto Leggings worth the hype?
These SPANX leggings are not the first Moto or compressive leggings I’ve tried. However, they live up to the hype and are worth the moneyโa worthy splurge!
This legging is not made for winter. However, with simple layering techniques, you can transition these summer leggings from summer and fall to warm winter days.
Another worthy splurge from Nordstrom is this Barefoot Dreams Cozychic cardigan. It took me a minute to decide, but I’m glad I bit the bullet and ordered this Cozychic cardigan.
The cardigan is soft, warm, and non-itchy. The sweater is a superb wardrobe staple I’ve worn numerous times (Read: Barefoot Dreams Cardigan Review).
I’ve noticed that over the years, some of the staple pieces I order from Nordstrom last longer than the fast fashion from other retailers.
Case in point? A basic tee. It was an easy yes to this cotton v-neck tee after seeing its 4,100+ reviews.
The t-shirt is available in Regular and Plus sizes and several fall-friendly colors. I am wearing a size small. Get it here.
I never thought I could pull off the cool-girl vibes in Keds. I might be a fashion blogger, but some styles don’t look great. I assumed the same when I spotted this sneaker style on one of my girlfriends.
I tried these Keds sneakers when they arrived and got great compliments! I think what makes these sneakers so attractive is the timeless style that pairs well with many wardrobe picks. They are lightweight, comfortable, and make your feet look great (#teambigfeet).
I recommend sizing down half a size if you’re in between sizes. I wear a size 9, but the 8.5 would have been a better option.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spanx Leggings
What to wear with Spanx faux leather leggings?
Some best ways to wear your Spanx faux leather leggings are simple t-shirts, comfy sneakers, and a fitted cardigan for a casual look. Opt for a blazer, non-leather ankle booties, a statement purse, and jewelry for a more stylish look. Avoid anything over the top!
How do you keep Spanx from rolling down?
First, order the right size. They are almost guaranteed to roll down if your Spanx is too tight or loose. Next, pull the waistband as high as it would go. Pay attention to signs of camel toe.
Are Spanx leggings worth the money?
Usually, my inclination to a product this expensive would be a resounding no. But after trying Spanx leggings for a second time, I think they are worth the money and a great splurge. I ordered this pair in my regular size.
